Perched within a 100-acre estate and steeped in history, this wing of a traditional property is nestled on the fringes of Pwllheli and is ideal for family and friends adventuring along the Llyn Peninsula. Embark on a salty saunter along Marian y De Beach (1.5 miles) and admire glimmering views across Cardigan Bay, before settling in for an al fresco spread on the blissfully secluded private terrace.

This property is brimming with nostalgic period opulence, featuring glass chandeliers, powdered pastel tones, antique furniture, and spacious social areas. After a day by the sea, sink onto the comfortable leather seats in the light-flooded lounge and debrief over a glass of bubbly and nibbles. Before dinner, browse the drinks cabinet to select some fine glassware or your tipples. Congregate around the glossy oak table for a formal dining affair bathed in the glow of the crackling open fire. Brew a post-dinner brew in the bright kitchen or rustle up a sweet treat. As the night draws in, ascend the staircase to discover four sleeping areas, consisting of a generous-sized double with striking dark wood features, a second double with a cosy window reading nook, and two airy singles. Drink in the rolling countryside vistas from the patio or enjoy a morning amble through the 6-acres of shared grounds.

Grab coffee and cake to go then saunter along the bustling marina of Pwllheli (1.5 miles) or browse the selection of locally crafted offerings at the weekly Wednesday market on the high street (1 mile). On the whole, we had a lovely break. The house and wing are beautiful buildings and the estate is spectacular. The surrounding views are breathtaking. Unfortunately, there are a couple of things that require improvement. Prior to arriving it would have been better if someone had gone round with a feather duster as it appeared the wing had been unocRead morecupied for a little while. There were a lot of spiders and cobwebs in the rooms. We had pre-booked a travel cot and high chair. On arrival we could not find them and spoke to Lowrie who advised the high chair was located in an outbuilding. Before use, we had to clean the high chair as it was dusty and dirty. Also, on locating the travel cot in a wardrobe, it had no base or mattress or bedding. Lowrie was informed and she arrived with a replacement she had borrowed from a friend, On putting up the cot, firstly the base was dirty and stained and also not suitable for a baby to sleep on. The base was slightly padded and unsuitable for a baby to sleep on. Again, Lowrie came and spoke to me and I explained the travel cot we use at home when the baby stays with us, she has a travel cot with separate mattress which fits in the cot frame and is much better than what was provided. We asked if there was a single mattress available which Lowrie provided from the main house but it was not ideal for us to put a 9 month old on a mattress on the floor. Lowrie said she would order a replacement travel cot or mattress on Amazon Monday night for delivery the next day. We did not have any further communication with Lowrie from then on. No replacement travel cot or suitable mattress was provided. The result was that we searched Facebook marketplace and purchased a second hand cot from someone in Portmadoc that was much more suitable for our granddaughter to sleep on and gave us peace of mind. Im sure you will agree, this is very poor. Also, could we suggest a sign is put above the waste bins in the kitchen regarding recycling and how waste is separated and instructions on where to take the rubbish. Another issue is the oven/grill,, the cooker instructions on the front of the cooker are faded so you cannot see heat settings and which is the oven and grill. We appreciate replacing an oven is expensive, but the instructions could be downloaded from the internet and laminated next to the cooker so you know what the oven settings are. Although we had these few blips, we would love to return as the location is amazing and are sure we will in the future. If you wish to discuss any of my feedback, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you. Hide

Penmaen is a beautiful house with stunning views and excellent value. It is just off a main road, so easy access to other locations. Very peaceful. Bicycle storage in the shed was very useful, and car parking in the courtyard.
