Property code: OC-YSTABL

Located just a mile from Abersoch and all its amenities, this beautifully restored cottage combines modern styling with original features and a mix of contemporary and vintage furniture. Offering space for large and multi-generational families and a pet, it has a sociable, open-plan living area and a large field outside that’s ideal for games.

Exposed stone walls, ancient beams and internal steps hint at the long history of this characterful holiday home, one of four in the grounds of a working farm. Its living space is stunning: a fully equipped kitchen, a dining area with a large table, chairs and a bench, and a spacious lounge with comfortable sofas grouped around a wood burner and a TV. A second sitting space, also with a TV, has a day bed and views over the front garden. Three of the four bedrooms are on the ground floor – a twin and, accessed through the snug, a double and a further twin (the latter with an en-suite shower room). There’s also a family bathroom on this floor, while the final bedroom, a very sweet double with rural views, is on the first floor at the top of cottage-style stairs. Outside, there’s a lawned area with garden furniture for alfresco drinks and meals, plus a large, open field.

This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is renowned for its coastline and beaches, water sports and walking. Abersoch offers a great choice of shops and places to eat and drink, as well as a safe, sheltered beach. Play golf or ride horses, take a boat trip to the St Tudwal’s Islands, or head to the National Trust house and garden of Plas yn Rhiw, 6.5 miles. It is 7 miles to Pwllheli, famous for its historic Wednesday market, and 12 miles to the Glasfryn Parc activity centre.

We had a wonderful weeks stay at Y Stabl near Abersoch. So lovely to arrive at a holiday rental and be greeted with a bottle of bubbly. The house was very homely, with lots of store cupboard provisions to use if needed - a really generous touch. The kitchen was very well equipped with plenty of glasses plates cutlery. The beds were very comfortableRead more with good quality linen. The garden/field at the back of the property was perfect for ball games and for the dog to run around. Hide

The main surfaces, bathrooms, kitchen etc were clean but the interior paintwork is dirty, deteriorated and stained in places. The front door was dirty. We kept finding woodlice inside. The bench in the entrance by the front door is wobbly /needs fixing. Property generally needs some tlc /upgrading. It is a lot more shabby than it looks in the photoRead mores on the website. The pre-arrival instructions could be improved in places: confusing info about who to contact if we had any problems (2 different names /numbers in separate places). Rang and texted one of them but received no reply; directions not easily readable on PDF. The best points about it are: the wood burning stove which is very efficient (though we didn't find the wood that had been left in the property until after we had bought our own, as it was in a cupboard which had a tv on top - not obvious!), the kitchen is well stocked; the large grassy area outside. However, overall, we felt is was not good value for money compared with other holiday homes we've previously stayed in, sorry. Hide

Just a comment. On arrrival the cottage was very cold. We had to seek help to turn on the few electric heaters. However once we lit the wood burning stove the cottage did warm up.. it was not a good welcome. Otherwise everything was very good.
