Guide to Abersoch beaches

Laura Kerslake 26 July 2023

Abersoch is one of the best places for a beach break in the UK. Often called the Welsh Riviera thanks to its unique microclimate, Abersoch offers long golden sands, blues seas, and world-renowned sailing waters. Nestled on the southern edge of the Llyn Peninsula, not only does Abersoch offer amazing beach life but there’s also shopping, lots of things to do, and great places to eat – find out more in our ultimate Abersoch guide here.

But it’s the beaches that are the main draw, and no matter what the time of year, Abersoch’s beaches are the place to be. And with our beautiful holiday cottages in Abersoch, you won’t be far away from them. Our coastal cottages mean you’re near to the water and if that isn’t close enough for you, check out our gorgeous holiday homes that come with a sea view.

Traeth Abersoch (Abersoch Main Beach)

Abersoch Beach is one of the most popular beaches on the Llyn Peninsula. It’s a long sandy stretch with its famous beach huts running along its back. Popular with all manner of visitors, from families taking advantage of the gently sloping sands for summer fun in the sun, to water sports enthusiasts who can make the most of Traeth Abersoch’s windsurfing and sailing opportunities.

There is also an area on Abersoch Beach for launching boats and jet skis meaning powered craft owners can take straight to the famous waters (vessels must be registered with Gwynedd Council before launching and a fee is payable).

The beach also regularly holds international sailing events and other sporting events such as Triathlons and beach sprints, perfect for those who like to do more on a beach than relax in the sun!
