To give our cleaners enough time to complete the additional cleaning and sanitising that is currently needed to keep our guests safe, check-in and check-out times at the majority of our properties have been temporarily revised. The revised times for this property are reflected above.
The Butler’s House was the original residence of Wern Manor’s butler and his family. Packed with character and charm and furnished with both antiques and modern furniture, it combines a traditional exterior and courtyard setting with a light and modern feel. This is a superb location for heading to the mountains and lakes of Snowdonia or to the stunning beaches nearby.
The ground floor living room has a wood burner in the original fire place, traditional built-in cupboards (one of which houses the flatscreen TV/DVD), a leather sofa and comfortable armchairs. WiFi is available throughout. The kitchen includes an electric grill/oven, gas hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge, whilst a separate utility room houses a washing machine. The dining area has a large window looking out to the courtyard and a round table and chairs for four. There is a spacious ground floor bathroom with a bath, shower over, basin and WC. Upstairs are two nicely styled bedrooms with traditional furniture, bright accent colours and quirky art work. The master bedroom is a double and the other a twin. The Butler’s House is set in a sunny courtyard which is shared with its neighbouring cottage The Bothy. There is an additional private courtyard with a table and chairs and private parking to the rear.
Guests and their dogs are encouraged to explore the 15 acres of grounds which, although only remnants remain of this once formal garden, still provide a fascinating reminder of a bygone era, steeped in history. There is plenty of room to explore, picnic or play games on the lawn (croquet sets provided), or find a quiet corner to sit and relax. Features include yew avenues, sweeping lawns, woodland areas, a summer house and pond. Walks lead to the nearby village of Tremadog and to the beach and town of Porthmadog. Wern Manor is undergoing a process of gentle renovation and the owners encourage guests to arrange a tour of the mansion to discover not only its fascinating history but also the renovation work and the exciting future that lies ahead for it.
Please note there is a small stream and a pond in the grounds so children need to be supervised at all times.
The Butler’s House can be booked together with The Bothy and/or The Atrium to accommodate up to 16 guests.
One well-behaved dog welcome by arrangement.
Electricity, heating and WiFi included.
Bed linen and towels are provided.
Travel cot, high chair and stair-gate available.
