This beautiful community with its long golden sandy beach and famous colourful beach huts is an ideal spot for a Llyn Peninsula break. Quieter than its neighbour Abersoch, Llanbedrog offers a wonderful mixture of peace and relaxation and a fantastic location with plenty of things to do and places to eat and drink.

Hit the beach!
No matter what time of year you visit Llanbedrog, we always recommend you visit its beautiful National Trust beach. Best known for its colourful beach huts, Llanbedrog Beach is a gorgeous sweeping bay with sheltered waters, golden sands and a stunning view. Whether you want a refreshing winter walk or a day of building sandcastles with the kids in the summer sun, you’ll no doubt love your visit to Llanbedrog Beach.
Parking is available in the National Trust car park, though it’s just a short walk from many of our Llanbedrog holiday cottages. For those holidaying with their furry friends, you’ll be delighted to know Llanbedrog Beach is dog-friendly all year round. Between 1 April and 30 September, your dog will need to be on a lead in the main beach area. A short walk to the end of the beach huts will give them extra space and more freedom to come off the lead if you wish.
Visit the Tin Man
Llanbedrog’s most famous resident is without a doubt the Tin Man. Designed by local artists, this famous sculpture stands on the headland above the beach and is a must-visit whilst in the village. Not only do you get to see the Tin Man, you also get incredible views of the Pwllheli seafront and the rising mountain of Snowdonia beyond. On a clear day, you can see Snowdon and in the winter, the snow caps complete this stunning scene. The Llanbedrog Walking Trail takes you from the car park to the sculpture and back again on a 3-mile moderate walk.
Eat at the beach bar
On a hot summer's day, whilst sitting above the golden sands sipping a cocktail at the Llanbedrog Beach Bar, you could be forgiven for thinking you’ve been transported to foreign climes. It’s easy to see why this stunning spot was voted in the top 20 best beachside bars in the UK by the Sunday Times in 2018, with its delicious food menu and the extensive drinks on offer. Open daily from 9am, Llanbedrog Beach Bar serves breakfast until 11am, and meals from 12 noon to 6pm (closing times will vary during autumn and winter depending on the weather).
Get cultural at Plas Glyn-y-Weddw
Built in 1857 as a home for the widow of Liberal MP Sir Love Jones-Parry, Plas Glyn-y-Weddw has been through various iterations. It’s been an art gallery, a home for land girls during the Second World War, and residential flats. In 1979, it was bought by local artist Gwyneth ap Tomos and her husband Dafydd whose hard work saved it from ruin and over recent years, through a charitable trust it has, once again, become a glorious hub of art and culture open to locals and visitors alike.
Famed for its art gallery, exhibitions are still a major draw to Plas Glyn-y-Weddw, but nowadays there is so much more on offer to visitors. From its open-air theatre and cinema, where a huge variety of plays and concerts are held during summer months, to workshops, beautiful woodlands made for exploring, and a café open all day, a visit to Plas Glyn-y-Weddw is a must-see whilst holidaying in Llanbedrog.
Eat, drink, and be merry at one of Llanbedrog’s pubs
Whether you’re after a cool pint whilst sat outside in the summer or a cosy Sunday lunch on a winter's day, you’ll want visit to one of Llanbedrog’s pubs whilst staying in the village. The Ship Inn is a dog-friendly pub that serves up delicious home-cooked meals and a wide range of drinks including cask ales. The Glyn y Weddw Arms is open 12-9pm daily and serves lunchtime snacks and hearty evening meals for the whole family – it also offers a carvery served all day on a Sunday.
Take a hike!
For the more active visitor, take the coastal path to the unspoilt beach of Cerrig y Defaid, around the edge of Pwllheli Golf Course and onto Pwllheli Promenade. This is the route of the old Llanbedrog to Pwllheli narrow gauge horse tramway and offers spectacular scenery – you may even spot the odd fisherman. Head into the market town of Pwllheli with its local shops and cafes and then walk back for a relaxing evening at your Llanbedrog holiday cottage. The round trip is around 9 miles long.
Visit St Pedrog’s Church
Beautiful St Pedrog's Church, which dates back to the 5th century, sits at the heart of the village and the community. With bilingual, twice-weekly services and a host of social and community activities, the church welcomes visitors with open arms. Benches in the churchyard and outside by the flowing brook are perfect spots to rest a while!
